ETRM selection and program set-up — midstream crude

Where they started

The business needed proper controls across its crude trading and commercial operations, and its existing tools could not provide them.

What we did

We ran the selection end to end, starting from how the business actually works rather than from a list of features:

  • Process. Mapped every commercial process the system would have to support, from deal to settlement: trading, scheduling, credit, inventory, settlement and accounting.
  • Requirements. Turned those processes into requirements the business signed off, weighted by what mattered most.
  • RFP. Wrote and ran the request for proposal, with scripted demonstrations built on the business’s own scenarios.
  • Selection. Scored the shortlist on the requirements and the total cost of ownership, and made the recommendation.
  • Program set-up. Built the program delivery plan, set the budget, and helped choose the systems integrator.
  • Assurance. Stayed on to provide assurance support as the implementation got under way.

What changed

A system chosen on the business’s own requirements rather than on a demonstration — and a program that started with a delivery plan, a budget, an integrator chosen for the work, and independent assurance behind it.
